Pop Up Class | Mikey DellaVella
Bio: With a decade of choreographing, five years of teaching and a unique style of hip-hop dance, Mikey DellaVella comes from upstate New York using a mixture of musicality, control and creative wordplay in his movement.
His aim is to make sure that his students leave his class with a better ear for music and even a stronger appreciation for dance. Having taught at popular Los Angeles studios such as Millennium Dance Complex, Movement Lifestyle and Playground LA - he is no stranger to the teaching world. He has had the privilege to teach in Russia, China, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and over 20 cities within the US.
Mikey’s skill and passion for teaching does not go unnoticed and fellow dancers collaborate their efforts creating pieces to teach alongside him. To name a few, he’s shared the front of the mirror with JoJo Gomez, Taiwan Williams, Melvin Timtim, Ellen Kim, B dash, Konkrete & more. He is also an active member/co-choreographer for the HHI Gold Medalist team, S-Rank (as seen on NBC’s World of Dance: Season 2).
Intermediate: For dancers who have mastered fundamentals up to Beginning/Intermediate and are ready for more challenging choreography that focuses more on detail and texture of movements taught at a quicker rate.
Advanced: For experienced dancers who want to learn at a professional level. These classes are taught at a proficient rate with exceptional attention to detail and texture of movement. A great place for dancers who are up for a challenge!
Hip Hop includes Afrodiasporic social dances and the dance form of Breaking. The choreography will include popular moves from past to present, such as the monastery and the woah. As a cultural era, Hip Hop emerged from the Black & Latiné youth of the 1970s originally in New York City. The five elements of Hip Hop are Deejaying, Emceeing, Graffiti, Breaking, and Knowledge. The popular dance form welcomes all to participate in living out the principles of peace, love, unity, and having fun!
Choreography & Technique Classes focus on detailed choreography and technique. These classes typically involve more precise and challenging movements than the cardio classes.
