Meet Kevin Saicheur

I began dancing during high school in 2007, breakdancing with friends and learning from YouTube. Then, I started sneaking into sessions with the UC Davis Breakdance and Popping club in 2008, where I started to take dance more seriously. Over the following years, I have learned various styles including Popping, Hip Hop, Locking, and House. All of which have led to opportunities to dance with amazing companies and individuals such as the Bay Area Lockers, Tribe Crew, Syndicate, Brandon “Knowbody” Greathouse, Brian “Lil B” Perez, Keeley “Lockn’ Key” Kaukimoce, and Francis Tyrell. I truly value freestyle, its foundations, the culture and history behind them; and believe that every dancer could benefit learning from it.

Locking is based on the concept of freezing from a fast movement and “locking” in a certain position. This dance form was brought into public attention in the 1970s by Toni Basil and The Lockers on the nationally syndicated show “Soul Train”. Toni got them to be featured, and Don “Campbellock” Campbell created the dance. The movements are generally large and exaggerated, and often very rhythmic and tightly synced with funk music. Locking is performance oriented, often interacting with the audience by smiling or giving them a high five, and some moves are quite comical.

Open Level: All Levels are welcome to participate in class: Beginning, Beg/Int, Intermediate, Int/Adv, and Advanced

Choreography & Technique Classes focus on detailed choreography and technique. These classes typically involve more precise and challenging movements than the cardio classes.
